A digital technology company based in Colorado is to develop three-dimensional broadcast software in Belfast, it emerged today.
Fighting Bull Broadcast Techonolgies is setting up a European software facility in the city's Ormeau Avenue.
And teh project, which has received £250,000 in financial support from Invest Northern Ireland, will create 15 new jobs.
FBBT, which develops products focused on web-based 3D software for the broadcast, telecoms, life sciences and defence industries, will initially develop and market digital broadcasting software known as pointTwo in Northern Ireland.
The company explained PointTwo is the first 3D operational system support software solution designed specifically for broadcasters; it simplifies the complex process of digital broadcast technology.
It also revealed the BBC, which signed a five-year collaborative agreement with the company in April 2003, will utilise PointTwo in its Northern Ireland operations.
FBBT, which is headquartered in Denver, was part of a business mission from the US which visited Northern Ireland in October 2002. The mission was organised by Invest NI's technology and development centre in Denver.
"These 15 jobs come at a good time for the Northern Ireland software and broadcast industries. Adding to Norther Ireland's growing technology cluster is especially rewarding," said FBBT director George Koustas.
