01/03/06 - Matador™: Managing the Broadcast Infrastructure
Belfast , Northern Ireland (September 29, 2005) - FBBT (Fighting Bull Broadcast Technology (UK) Ltd.) has announced the appointment of Adrian Scott to the company's CEO Advisory Group. Scott joins Dr. Jim Lyons and Michael Adams on the Group, and will focus on FBBT's sales and marketing activities.
FBBT is the creator of Matador™, the first Operational Support System for broadcasters. Developed under a Joint Collaboration Agreement with the BBC, MatadorT "simplifies the complex" by collecting, displaying, organizing, consolidating and leveraging network data from production, playout and transmission systems. Unlike output monitoring tools deployed by the media industry today which monitor specific devices or segments of the infrastructure, Matador's process monitoring solution is the first to:
Dynamically generate a unified view of the entire server-based broadcasting service chain.
Support business decision-makers with powerful management and performance data
Provide a unique intuitive 3D user interface which visualizes both real-time and historical events. |
Matador was launched at IBC this year, and will go live at BBC Northern Ireland in November. FBBT are planning additional November deployment announcements soon.
"FBBT's Matador is one of the most exciting new products I have seen recently," says Scott. "It is a brilliant example of the way that techniques and technology from the IT world are now becoming mainstream in the once rather closed world of broadcasting."
"Matador offers broadcasters more than an incrementally better way to monitor their infrastructure; it allows them to really manage that infrastructure, to analyze past performance, and to optimize in a predictive manner the way their resources are used."
Rick Bolin, FBBT's CEO, says "I am delighted that Adrian has decided to lend his substantial industry presence to our efforts. His confidence that MatadorT is the right product at the right time for this industry gives FBBT's employees further conviction and drive."
Scott will advise FBBT on the introduction of global sales and marketing strategies. A former VP of Marketing for Avid's iNews product line, he is the founder of the Bakewell House Consultancy and advises a long list of clients among both broadcasters and manufacturers. He is also a well-known conference speaker and chairman.
