30/01/05 - Fighting Bull takes wares abroad
Demand for high-definition TV, and the proddings of the Federal Communications Commission, have pushed networks across the nation to switch from analog to digital technology. "As you make this move, the complexity increases dramatically," warns Rick Bolin, CEO of Fighting Bull Broadcast Technologies. His company makes 3-D, interactive software for monitoring the new, complex digital systems.
The company was inspired by similar software used by Denver's telecom companies, which made the digital plunge in the mid-1990s to offer DSL and cellphones.
The company, born in Denver, moved much of its operations to Belfast, Northern Ireland, last month to partner with the BBC and take advantage of Europe's more mature broadcast technologies. But Bolin hopes to return. "The Guinness is good," he says, "but I still enjoy a good Fat Tire when I get my hands on one."
