System Architecture
The Matador™ system is designed around a multi-tiered scalable Web Services architecture consisting of the following layers:

Visualisation Layer
The Visualisation Component is built on industry standard technologies such as X3D, OpenGL, DirectX and XML, to ensure maximum compatibility and portability. This process is protected by US Patent no. 6097393
Communications Layer
The Communications Layer provides a reliable and scalable solution providing a middleware layer capable of high volume message transport.
Service / Access Layer
The Service Layer is deployed as a set of Enterprise JavaBeans under the Open Source JBoss J2EE Apllication Server. The Server manages agents connected to the network via communication methods such as SNMP, SERIAL and GPI/GPO.
Data Layer
The Data Layer consists of a highly tuned Oracle 10g RDBMS. A variety of redundancy features are available from Dataguard (standby database) to Real Application Clusters.
The Management Information System and Maintenance functionality is provided by means of java tools running on the Communications Layer Application Server.
